El Salvador

The El Salvador was another vessel lost during the hurricane of 1715.

The ship carried passengers and valuable cargo when the storm struck. Like many ships in the fleet, it was unable to survive the extreme conditions created by the hurricane.

After the disaster, Spanish salvage teams recovered some treasure from the wrecks, but much remained beyond their reach. Early recovery efforts were limited by diving technology, ocean conditions, and uncertainty about the locations of the ships.

The El Salvador became part of the larger legend surrounding the Treasure Coast, where scattered Spanish coins and artifacts continue to be discovered centuries later.
